Fish cytochrome P4501A (CYP1A) is a widely accepted environmental biomarker, detecting biological effects of several xenobiotic groups (oil compounds, dioxins, PCBs, PAHs etc.) present in aquatic environments, when evaluated in target tissues of a biosensor species.
