Living organisms express specific proteins when exposed to environmental stress such as pollution, and the level of these proteins, called biomarkers, are therfor good indicators of the quality of the environment surrounding the organisms.

Biosense has developed a range of new monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies against biomarkers like

• Vitellogenin (Vtg)
• Zona radiata proteins (Zrp)
• Cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A)
• Spiggin
• Metallothionein (MT)

in a variety of species. These antibodies are all suited for semi-quantitative analysis like western blot, ELISA and immunohistochemistry.

Biosense also offers vitellogenin standards from rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Atlantic salmon (Salmon salar), common carp (Cyprinus carpio), japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes), fathead minnow (Pimephales promelus) and zebrafish (Danio rerio). The standards consist of purified, lyophilised vitellogenin and are suited for quantitative analysis, western blot and semi-quantitative ELISA.
